About Computer Science Department

Since its inception in 2005, the Department of Computer Science at Government Degree College Uri, Baramulla, has grown into a vibrant centre for technology-driven education, innovation, and student development. The department fosters critical thinking, creativity, practical learning, and exploration of emerging technologies, enabling students to confidently meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital world.
The department is supported by dedicated faculty, 30 high-configuration computer systems, AI-enabled Smart Boards, and a modern Smart Room, creating an interactive and future-ready learning environment. Through technology, innovation, and industry-oriented learning, the department strives to prepare students for industry, higher education, research, and entrepreneurship.

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science. Our aim is serve as the academic hub for the study of computation, algorithmic processes, and the interaction between software and hardware. It focuses on equipping students with the theoretical foundations and practical skills required to design, develop, and analyze complex systems that solve real-world problems.

Vision of the Department

To develop academically strong, technically competent, industry-ready, and socially responsible students by integrating quality education with practical skills, emerging technologies, innovation, and holistic personality development.
Objectives
• Strengthen foundational and advanced knowledge in Computer Science.
• Develop practical programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Integrate emerging technologies into teaching and learning.
• Enhance students' employability and industry readiness.
• Encourage innovation, research, higher education, and entrepreneurship.
• Promote digital literacy through multidisciplinary computer education.

  • 1. Established a strong Computer Science academic programme since 2005.
  • 2. Developed a 30-system high-configuration computer laboratory.
  • 3. Implemented AI-enabled Smart Boards for interactive and technology-enhanced teaching.
  • 4. Established a dedicated Smart Room for advanced academic activities.
  • 5. Introduced and delivered a broad range of core, skill-based, and multidisciplinary Computer Science courses.
  • 6. Integrated AI, IoT, Android, web technologies, multimedia, cryptography, and other emerging areas into student learning.
  • 7. Created an academic environment focused on technical competency, employability, higher education, research, and holistic student development.
