About the Governing Body

The Governing Body of Government Degree College Uri serves as the supreme decision-making authority, providing strategic direction, policy formulation, and overall governance to ensure the institution's growth and development in alignment with its vision and mission.

Constituted as per the guidelines of the University of Kashmir and Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the Governing Body comprises distinguished academicians, administrative officials, and community representatives who bring diverse expertise and perspectives to guide the college's progress.

The body meets quarterly to review academic progress, approve budgets, formulate policies, and make strategic decisions for the holistic development of the institution.

Meeting Schedule

Regular meetings: Quarterly (March, June, September, December)

Special meetings: As required with 7 days notice

Decision Making

Quorum: 50% of members required

Voting: Simple majority for regular decisions

Special majority (2/3) for major policy changes

Detailed minutes of all meetings

Action taken reports in subsequent meetings

Annual report submitted to University & Government

Terms & Tenure

  • Ex-Officio Members: Tenure coincides with their official position (Principal, Vice Principal)
  • Committee Members: 3-year term, renewable based on performance and institutional requirements
  • Faculty Representatives: Tenure as per committee norms and institutional policies
  • Resignation: Members may resign by submitting written notice to Chairman
  • Removal: Members may be removed for misconduct or continuous absence
  • Vacancies: Filled within 3 months following prescribed procedure
